What makes 4530 unique?

What makes us unique as a brand is that we always offer a combination of two items, like our matching tees & socks. One of our advantages is, that we are very close to the market. We analyze individuals who dare to be different in modern metro poles. We always work with a basic design and add a cool detail to it. Also, our clothes are stock products: every two months we receive new items which we offer directly to our retailers. By doing so,  inventory risk shifts from the retailer towards the brand.

Where does the name 4530 come from?

4530 was the pin code of a debit card of our grandmother, which she only used for very special occasions. For example, the college fee of my sister for the Amsterdam Fashion Institute was paid with this card. Our grandmothers are important for the existence of 4530: one wore exquisite garments, the other one made them. Inspired by the craftsmanship and creativity of our grandmothers we always had a strong desire to launch a clothing line. So, at a very young age me and my sister were exposed to the production and design of clothing.

 

What are the future plans for 4530?

We want to work towards a complete collection. In the short term I will focus on having nice partners and working with them intensively. Quality above quantity. We will continue to sell from inventory, so we can offer different cool items every two months that our retailers can buy instantly. We will not work with seasons, which makes us flexible. On the short run, we will not launch a clothing line for women, since I want to make clothes I would wear myself. You have to stay close to yourself!

 

Where does the collection come from?

For our t-shirts, we only use premium quality fabrics. The different fabrics we use for our pocket tees are collected during our trips around the world. For example, now we use fabrics from Guatemala that are traditionally hand woven by the Maya’s. In order to guarantee quality, we produce our clothing line in Europe, which also shortens delivery time. 

 

Who inspires you?

The sub-cultures within modern metro poles like Amsterdam, London and Paris. The individualists you find there, who dare to be different.

 

So Koen, what’s your own favorite outfit?

The clothing which we produce,  in combination with a nice jeans and matching sneakers. As I said earlier, I want to make clothes I would wear myself.

 

Do you give styling advice to your girlfriend or buy her clothes?

[smiling] I would call it hints. If I see something cool, I tell her: check out these shoes. If we go shopping together, we buy something together. Yaela: I ask you for advise, because you know best what to buy. Koen: she always looks great, though!

How did you come up with the idea to sell socks & tees combined and do you want to continue with this concept?

 The Capital of Cool (TCOC) plays an important part here. I noticed people were rolling up their trousers and I figured you would want to have cool socks beneath it. Since the pocket tees were upcoming, we combined these trends and creates matching tees & socks. 

 

Finally, what do you like about the concept of GetBisy?

 It’s cool that small and enthusiast entrepreneurs can present their selves to a broad audience with GetBisy. If you have a shop in a small street in Amsterdam, a German guy will hardly find you without such a platform.
